Antelope Moon'Antelope Moon' is an original fine art scratchboard drawing in black and white. The scratchboard size is 12 1/2 in x 19 in. Doing research for this drawing gave me a new appreciation for this creature of the prairie. Though it does not have the elegant beauty of a deer, its beauty lies in its uniqueness and its incredible speed. Commonly known as an antelope, its true name is pronghorn. This is one of a series of drawings I do that uses the moon to back-light the image. The black of the scratchboard lends itself well to night drawings, using the moon as the source of illumination. The entire image was done with an exacto blade on black scratchboard. Very fine lines were drawn in layers, slowly building up the detail and highlights. Tiny dots were used to bring life to the eyes and to create the nose. Please note that the squiggly line effect is caused by digitizing the image for the internet. The lines on the actual drawing are smooth. Purchase of this original artwork does not include the copyrights. The copyrights are retained by the artist, Denise M. DesLauriers.
