Bald Eagle Moon
'Bald Eagle Moon' is an original fine art scratchboard drawing in black and white. The scratchboard size is 17 in x 21 in. A majestic bald eagle has just landed on a downed tree. He scans the surrounding area for intruders and prey. The moon glistens off his feathers. This is one of a series of drawings I do that uses the moon to back-light the image. The black of the scratchboard lends itself well to night drawings, using the moon as the source of illumination. This entire image was done with an exacto blade on black scratchboard. Very fine lines were drawn in layers, slowly building up the detail and highlights. Tiny dots were made to create the eyes. Please note that the squiggly line effect is caused by digitizing the image for the internet. The lines on the actual drawing are smooth.
