Green Moth

'Green Moth' is an original fine art scratchboard miniature drawing in full color. The scratchboard size is 4 in x 4 in. I fashioned this drawing after the luna moth, because I am fascinated by these colorful creatures. They remind me of delicate fairies, and even have a magical name. This tiny miniature artwork was done with an exacto blade on black scratchboard. Very fine lines were used to lay out the moth and then broader strokes were used to remove the black ink for detail, color and highlights. To add the colors, I used opaque watercolors and a small brush. Please note that the squiggly line effect is caused by digitizing the image for the internet. The lines on the actual drawing are smooth. The colors in the drawing will vary depending on monitor settings. All the colors are very rich and vivid.
