Sunflowers

'Sunflowers' is an original fine art scratchboard ACEO miniature drawing in full color. The scratchboard size is 2 1/2 in x 3 1/2 in. Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers. I just love their bright cheerful faces. I am always in awe when I drive by a large field of these yellow giants all facing the sun. This tiny miniature artwork was done with an exacto blade on black scratchboard. Very fine lines were used to lay out the drawing and then simple broad strokes were used to remove the black ink for detail, color and highlights. To add the colors, I used opaque watercolors and a small brush. Please note that the squiggly line effect is caused by digitizing the image for the internet. The lines on the actual drawing are smooth. The colors in the drawing will vary depending on monitor settings. All the colors are very rich and vivid.
