Winged Fire Serpent

'Winged Fire Serpent' is an original fine art scratchboard drawing in black, white, and color. The scratchboard size is 4 in x 6 in. This winged serpent is looking for a fight! I first create an image similar to this while working as a embroidery designer. I created this miniature dragon by first removing the black ink from some of the areas that I wanted color. Then I applied opaque watercolor with a small brush. In some of the areas, color was applied over the black ink to deepen the shadows or provide depth. I strengthened some of the highlights with the exacto blade. Please note that the squiggly line effect is caused by digitizing the image for the internet. The lines on the actual drawing are smooth.
