Winter Slumber'Winter Slumber' is an original fine art scratchboard drawing in black, white, and color. The scratchboard size is 5 in x 4 in. I created this drawing for the Worldwide Women Artists' Exhibition, titled 'Winter Slumber'. I also used it for the illustration of my Yule card for that year. The image represents peace, security and maternal love. This entire miniature was done with an exacto blade on black scratchboard. Very fine lines were drawn to create the detail and highlights. Tiny dots were used to create the frosty night sky, rock detail and the larger bear's nose. To add the color, I use a small brush to apply opaque watercolor. Please note that the squiggly line effect is caused by digitizing the image for the internet. The lines on the actual drawing are smooth.The colors in the drawing will vary depending on monitor settings. All the colors are very rich and vivid. Purchase of this original artwork does not include the copyrights. The copyrights are retained by the artist, Denise M. DesLauriers. The copyright notice on the image is for protection purposes only.
